The long history of Merck in Russia goes back to 1899 when the first two offices were established in Moscow and St Petersburg. However, World War I led to expropriation of property and the loss of most of its foreign subsidiaries including those in Russia.
In Russia, Merck started its own activities again in 1993 and two years later on February 1, 1995 established a Representative Office in Moscow. In 2008, a new local legal entity was registered in Russia, LLC “Merck” with the two divisions Merck Serono and Merck Chemicals, being one of the fastest growing companies on the Russian chemicals and pharmaceutical markets. Today, our activities in Russia cover over 60 cities in 7 federal regions.
Merck Serono focuses and successfully operates with products that make a difference in people’s lives: neurology, oncology and reproductive health.
The activities within the Chemical business sector comprise the marketing and regulatory activities for the Laboratory Business, Life Science Solutions and Pigments.
